Narisa Loren Broomberg
Born in South Africa, Narisa was destined to be an artist.
She inherited the eyes and hands of her mother, an accomplished fine
sculptor and painter. From this familial background she developed
a sense of rich color and artistic diversity.
At an early age Narisa became involved in the art world. She participated
in Young Art 86' displaying a figurative pastel. Her media use broadened
to watercolor, then to acrylic and now generally uses oil on canvas
as her favorite medium. At the age of 18, Narisa traveled to Europe
where she learned to respect the detailed skill and beauty of the
old masters focusing on the human figure. It was at this time she
became focused as a serious painter and sold her first piece to a
La Jolla store owner. In high school, she painted on everything and
anything from jeans, surfboards, furniture to using icing to paint
portraits on cakes. She freelanced as an artist painting on furniture
at La Jolla Gallery and Cafe and also apprenticed a local artist,
faux-finishing and texturizing private homes. While pursuing a bachelors
in graphic design at San Diego State University, she took the equivalent
to a fine art degree studying art history, illustration, painting
and metal sculpture.
Through the years Narisa has been commissioned and privately sold
various pieces. She has been shown in La Jolla Gallery and Cafe, where
she also was accepted into Art Prospect, La Jolla Village Art Competition
where she sold both entered pieces. In July of 2000 a private art
show was held at House of Stems. A group of selected pieces from this
event were shown in a number of downtown offices on 5th Avenue. During
the month of March in 2002 a series of paintings were shown at the
Belly Up, a venue for concerts in Solana Beach. Narisa work has recently
become a permanent fixture in Jim Kelly's restraunt, where it is for
sale, located in the "lumberyard" in Encinitas. She has
painted a number of private murals for both nurseries and entertainment
settings. Narisa recently showed her work in a private jazz show in
Scottsdale, Arizona, selling 4 pieces.

Personal Note: My figurative style can be attributed
to strong images that I use for references. I usually use a mixture
of vibrant colors and dark shadows to evoke a sultry yet positive
mood in my paintings. There are no particular meanings. Only subconscious
thoughts. Art should always be viewed and consumed by the eyes of
the beholder.
